He celebrates this anniversary with a bang, pulling out two rolling bangers that combine the best of the old with the best of the new. Skin Return see the producer immediately launch into top gear with a repetitive, almost techno influenced ??" in its execution ??" rolling, old school-esq, two step beat, that powers the tune along in a decidedly mid 90s tech-step fashion before launching into a dark, Virus powered monster that eschews sign posting its drops, preferring a more subtle approach that doesn't interrupt the chugging railway like nature of the furious beats. Warm, static pads underpin the tune, giving the tune a sense of horror laden uneasiness, whilst filmic melodic elements pop in and out of play at pertinent times. Snitch starts of life wallowing in a bath of existential dread, with reversed string samples, and reverb laden drum fills combine to create and eerie atmosphere, ushering in the lively drums and full on mix-elements with subtle aplomb. Like its predecessor, a despite it fabulously designed sounds, the drops are tasteful and functional, showing that Psidreams is not only a master of sound design but a master of restraint; a producer who is able to tease out ecstatic moments with the lightest of touches. The basslines are hard-hitting yet fluid and full of motion, and the drums roll like an American muscle car on Route 66. Flanged and phased drum fills, along with techy, sci-fi sound-effects herald the change ups like a crazed town crier, rolling the tune along, again, in locomotive fashion. All things said, Psdreams' tunes clearly show a man at the top of his game, adapting his age-old styles and influences and mixing them up with current sounds and ideas to great effect. The tunes bump in all the right spots and will work in a relentless fashion on both the dancefloor and your daily commute to and from work.
